Find Truths in Window Tinting Myths

Myth 1: The only benefit of window tinting is to decrease glare from the sun

Many people believe that window tinting is purely to provide shade for the driver. While this is a benefit of professional window tint installation, this film does so much more!

Quality window tinting from VVS Detailing offers significant UV resistance, from reducing glare to rejecting infrared heat to keep interiors cooler. They also increase privacy, deter prying eyes by masking valuables, and improve vehicle aesthetics by adding a layer of sophistication and style.

Myth 2: All window tint film shades are completely legal

While you may see a variety of shades and darkness levels on the road, it is a misconception to assume that all window tint film shades are legal. In reality, window tinting regulations vary by state and country, with specific guidelines on permissible tint levels.

At VVS Detailing, we have made it a priority to be familiar with the laws and regulations regarding window tinting for the state of California. We ensure that every tint we install complies with local regulations, providing you with legal and safe options while also following your preferences. Click here to learn more.

Myth 3: Window tinting will bubble and peel over time

Some believe that window tinting somehow bubbles and peels with age or exposure to direct sunlight, leading to a poor appearance. Contrary to popular belief, this only occurs with poor-quality window tint film products or improper installation.

At VVS Detailing, neither of those will happen. We use only high-quality materials and employ a professional window tint film installation process that guarantees a perfect process to the benefit of your vehicle. Our window tinting packages are designed to last, maintaining their clarity and adherence for years without bubbling, peeling, or fading whatsoever.

Window Tinting Rules and Regulations for California

Window tinting is an excellent way to enhance your vehicle's comfort, privacy, and appearance while protecting the interior from harmful UV rays. However, it is crucial for you as a vehicle owner in California to be aware of the state-specific regulations governing window tinting to ensure compliance and avoid potential fines. California law specifies strict guidelines on both the darkness and reflectiveness of window tinting packages. Tint darkness is quantified by the percentage of Visible Light Transmission (VLT), indicating how much light can pass through the tint. Similarly, tint reflectiveness is measured in percentages, dictating how much light the tint can reflect.

In the state of California, for all vehicles the front side windows must allow more than 70% of light in (70% VLT). While the rear side windows and back window can be tinted to any darkness level. When it comes to tint reflectiveness, California law mandates that no window tint may be more reflective than a standard window.

To navigate these regulations effectively and make informed decisions about window tinting, it is advisable to consult with professionals. At VVS Detailing, we are well-versed in California's window tinting laws and can help you choose the right tint for your vehicle while ensuring compliance. We invite you to contact us directly at (858) 717-0111 for more information, personalized advice, and high-quality window tinting services tailored to meet your needs and preferences.
